RV Trade-Ins and Motor Home Trades: Your Legal Rights to Benefits

We specialize in helping California RV owners recover money owed them by California RV dealers for an RV sale or lease contract that violates California law. These contracts may have improperly increased your sales price, tax, license, and registration costs. We handle all details; you do not have to negotiate with the dealer or worry about the court filings. We are California licensed attorneys and are paid only if we recover for you.

If you had any of the typical RV trade-in situations listed below, we may be able to obtain cash or other legal benefits for you:

# 1  Situation: Amount owing on trade-in RV added into price of new RV
Dealer
Tells You:
"We'll value your old RV for what you owe -- even if you owe more than it is worth." OR, "We'll pay off your old RV."
What Dealer
Does:
Takes the amount you owe on the trade in, subtracts the actual (lower) value of the trade in, then adds the amount left to the price of the new RV. This is illegal by California law.
What It
Costs You:
Increased tax at time of purchase, increased RV taxes, registration, licensing, and financing costs for as long as you own it.
What
To Do:
Call Rosner, Law & Mansfield toll-free at (800) 466-5366 for a free, no-pressure consultation. If your dealer broke the law, we may be able to get a cash settlement or other legal benefit for you. We are paid only if we recover for you.

# 2  Situation: Extra trade-in documents added to the agreement
Dealer
Tells You:
"We need you to sign this form that you will pay any extra owed on the trade-in vehicle above and beyond what is in the purchase contract." OR "Sign this extra agreement so that we can make payments on your trade-in vehicle since we can't include the trade-in in your purchase contract."
What Dealer
Does:
California law says the dealer can have only 1 (one) document in the purchase contract. These "side agreements" break the law.
What It
Costs You:
Typically, extra money over and above the purchase price.
What
To Do:
Call Rosner, Law & Mansfield toll-free at (800) 466-5366 for a free, no-pressure consultation. If your dealer broke the law, we may be able to get a cash settlement or other legal benefit for you. We are paid only if we recover for you.

# 3 Purchase Scams
These purchase scams also hurt trade-in customers.
For more info, please see RV Purchases.
    Unwanted accessories included in contract
Backdated contract, usually at a higher interest rate
"Hold check" agreement with multiple deposit checks
    Used RV with hidden problems
New RV is really a used RV
Discussions in Spanish, but contract in English
    Dealer forges customer signature
